Born Again Floozies

New Roots music: The Floozies blast bass, tap dance, turntables and stomp orchestral percussion. The singer plays guitar the way most people play the piano. Formed in 2003 the Floozies first toured Ireland in a horse-drawn gypsy wagon. The Floozies recorded three albums with world-renowned engineer/producer Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies) and garnered accolades from all over the world. The Floozies’ releases both debuted at #11 on the CMJ national Top Adds chart, then spent 8 - 10 weeks on the CMJ Top 100. The Born Again Floozies have been working on a new release in Nashville, TN with musical producer Ben Fowler (Chaka Kahn, Leanne Rimes, Brooks and Dunn).
The Floozies' first gigs were in a small club (capacity 30). The shows were a wild, sweaty romp, and the listeners kept stomping and clapping and packing in the shows. Soon after, the Born Again Floozies recorded with world-renowned engineer/producer Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies), and Nick Webb at Abbey Road Studios (John Lennon, Coldplay).
The Floozies’ 2007 and 2008 releases both debuted at #11 on the CMJ national Top Adds chart, then spent 8 - 10 weeks on the CMJ national airplay charts.
The Born Again Floozies have appeared on the PASTE Magazine best new releases music sampler three times.
Tiffany Kilfeather of the College Music Journal (CMJ) reviewed the Born Again Floozies’ album Street Music saying it offered listeners “life-sustaining enjoyment”.
"Joey Welch delivers the goods, to a such degree that he's vaulted himself into the highest tier of songwriters in today's music scene. "
-Scott A.C., The Armchair Critic
The BBC's Simon Mayo featured the Born Again Floozies with an interview and in-studio performance on BBC Radio 6, and described Joey Welch's playing as "Fantastic".
Joey Welch - Songwriter, Guitarist, Vocalist

Joey Welch developed his aggressive, unique guitar style busking the streets of 4 continents, playing the guitar like a piano-- or like Stevie Wonder on the Clavinova. Welch has toured the U.S. playing 260 shows a year. The Floozies recorded three albums with world-renowned engineer/producer Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies) and garnered accolades from all over the world.
Michele Long - Tap Dancer

Michele Long, the Born Again Floozies tap dancer, has performed with tap dance king, Savion Glover in productions throughout the country (she even appears in a cabaret scene in the movie Public Enemies with Johnny Depp). Michele has been stomping out rhythms with her feet since she could walk. She owns and runs the Extreme Rhythm Project, a project that fine tunes tap dancing skills of pre-professional tap dancers.
Mike Graves - Turntablist, Vocalist

Mike Graves is an artist with a sharp sense of the abstract. He's the Salvador Dali of vinyl. His talents have been a force behind many musical projects. He is also a sculptor and prolific painter---in fact all the artwork you see in the Born Again Floozies' photos are collaborative works of Mike Graves and the BRIDGE Collective.
Vincent Jackson - Percussionist, Vocalist

Vincent Jackson has a fiercely creative rhythmic drive. Give him a box and he could make even the most dejected soul dance their shoes right off their feet. Vincent has toured the U.S. with several national acts, is an established studio drummer who got his degree in music performance from Butler University.
Brett Cantrell - Bassist, Vocalist

Brett Cantrell's lyrical bass lines are the solid core to the Born Again Floozies. He is understated and subtle, but when you least expect it, he will hit you a line that will knock you flat. Timing is everything, and his musicality and instinct are peerless. Brett has performed and recorded with many acts from all over the country (he is a MONSTROUS guitarist).
